Infrastructure Identity Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Identity Engineer to lead our council’s infrastructure modernisation programme.
About the Role
* Deliver measurable public value through strategic infrastructure planning and implementation.
* Work across a broad technical scope: identity, security, data centres, and observability.
* Lead short-term, high-impact projects with autonomy and clear milestones.
* Contribute to long-term council digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Migrate and consolidate hybrid Active Directory & Azure Entra ID environments.
* Design and implement staged migration cutovers with rollback and runbooks.
* Modernise service accounts & privileged credentials using managed identities and automation.
* Deploy Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solutions, including CA hierarchy, templates, automation, and revocation.
* Architect and implement Azure Disaster Recovery solutions with failover testing.
* Migrate HCI servers and onboard them to Azure ARC for management and monitoring.
* Design and operate Azure DNS/DHCP at scale, including zone architecture, split DNS, and IP address management.
* BUILD UNIFIED OBSERVABILITY ACROSS ON-PREMISES AND CLOUD ENVIRONMENTS USING AZURE MONITOR AND OPEN-SOURCE STACKS.
* Develop procurement-ready specifications, compliance documentation, and acceptance test plans.
* Provide clear handover of project knowledge, including runbooks, dashboards, scripts, and operational training.
Requirements
* Proven experience in migrating hybrid AD & Azure Entra ID environments in production settings.
* AD Connect, federation/modern auth strategies, and troubleshooting syncs.
* Credential modernisation using managed identities and privileged access hardening.
* Practical PKI deployment and automation expertise.
* Azure DR architecture and failover testing experience.
* Strong background in HCI migrations (VMware, Nutanix, HPE SimpliVity, vSAN) and Azure ARC.
* Azure DNS/DHCP and IPAM design skills.
* Observability expertise with Azure Monitor and open-source stacks.
* Scripting and automation proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM/Bicep, and Terraform.
* Excellent documentation and public sector stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Skills
* Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, Solutions Architect, Identity).
* PAM, IGA, SCIM, OAuth2/OIDC experience.
* Previous contracting experience within local or state government.
