About the role
Due to internal movements and several new business projects Aurizon is seeking four Payroll Officers to join our Payroll team on a 12-month fixed‑term basis. These roles play an important part in ensuring timely, accurate and compliant payroll services that support our workforce across Australia.
You'll join a collaborative and experienced team that underpins the employee experience delivering high‑quality service, maintaining data integrity and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time.
Key responsibilities
* Provide end‑to‑end payroll administrative services ensuring accurate processing and payment of employee entitlements.
* Maintain employee records, process manual timesheets and assist with travel expense claims.
* Ensure compliance with payroll procedures, agreements and legislation.
* Provide clear, customer‑focused advice on payroll and entitlements.
* Contribute to process improvements and the ongoing review of payroll practices.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a consistent and efficient payroll service.
Qualifications
* Experience in payroll and/or HR administrative services within a large complex organisation.
* Working knowledge of payroll systems (SAP or similar preferred).
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
* Sound understanding of employee entitlements, industrial instruments and relevant legislation.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
