Remuneration Package
Package valued at up to $182,461. Base salary ranges from $101,122 to $160,983, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience. Note there is no automatic progression to $160,983. Access to SCAC is available once a school counsellor has progressed through all salary steps and upon successful application for Advanced Certification level against the NSW School Counselling Service PPF.
Overview
School counsellors are an essential part of the department's School Counselling Service. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to complement and enhance the work of teachers to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes, and they help families understand and manage their children's learning and mental health needs. The role offers a truly collegiate environment with unique challenges and opportunities for professional development and a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people.
Responsibilities
As a school counsellor at Moree Public School, you will:
* Provide counselling and psychological assessment of students across primary and high school aged groups.
* Collaborate with teachers, senior psychologists, and the broader district school counselling team to support student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
* Engage with families to help them understand and manage their children's learning and mental health needs.
* Participate in individual professional supervision with the Senior Psychologist and group and peer supervision as part of the district team.
* Take part in continuing professional development and support registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Maintain indemnity insurance and assist with travel between worksites where required.
Qualifications
* Be a registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Have a valid unrestricted provisional or full driver's licence with the ability to travel between worksites.
* Possess experience in counselling using evidence‐based interventions and understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people.
* Have experience in the psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
* Demonstrate ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds and needs.
Conditions
* This position is under the Teachers award (Crown Employees – Teachers in Schools and Related Employees Salaries and Conditions Award 2024).
* Applicants must have unconditional, full approval to teach or be eligible to apply for such approval; if not, application for this teaching opportunity must commence concurrently.
* Applicants are required to provide details of their WWCC clearance number; WWCC must be NSW.
* The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one‐off recruitment payment of $20,000 (conditions apply). For part‐time employment this payment will be pro‐rated.
