Job Title: Housing Support Specialists


Organisation Overview:


Centacare Community Services has been working in partnership with the community and all levels of Government for over 50 years. With a large workforce and numerous service sites, they touch the lives of thousands of people every year.


The Role:


We are seeking experienced Housing Support Specialists to join our Emergency Housing team based in Hervey Bay on a full-time basis. You will be responsible for delivering a holistic, individualised approach to supporting clients.


Key Responsibilities:



* Conduct thorough initial assessments for new clients entering the program and develop customised case plans.

* Continuously review and track progress and adapt case plans to align with evolving needs and client goals.

* Provide timely crisis support and referrals for appropriate support services.

* Collaborate with real estate personnel to advocate for client's housing stability.

* Oversee ten residential properties, including inspections and entry/exit reports.

* Liaise with external agencies, including Police, Child Safety, Corrections, Public Guardian, Youth Justice, and schools.

* Ensure coordinated, wraparound support for every client.

* Encourage life skills through chore charts, budgeting sessions, and daily structure.

* Assess when to handle matters internally vs. when to engage specialist services.



Required Skills and Qualifications:



* Qualifications in Mental Health, Social Work, or Community Services preferred.

* Previous experience working with people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.

* Demonstrated understanding of the complex needs of marginalised people and the ability to effectively support clients with these needs.

* Proven experience in case management, ideally with vulnerable or high-needs populations.

* Strong crisis management and conflict resolution skills.

* Understanding of trauma-informed care and client-centred practice.

* Familiarity with property management within a social services context is an advantage.

* Ability to obtain and maintain relevant certifications and clearances.
