Position: Direct Care Worker Job Type: Casual Tenure: Permanent Location: Stawell & St Arnaud Package: $40.64 per hour plus superannuation

Position Objectives

This position is responsible for providing assistance to clients to enable their independence at home and in the community, thereby enhancing their quality of life.


Key Responsibility Areas

* Support clients to achieve and maintain well‑being and independence as outlined in the individual support plan and the Active Service Model.
* Provide the highest standard of home and community care services, including domestic assistance, personal care, mobility support, bathing, toileting, meal planning, shopping, banking, correspondence, appointments and recreational activities.
* Offer respite care and client‑preferred social support.
* Deliver high‑level customer service that is responsive, non‑judgmental and professional.
* Monitor and report changes or concerns regarding client well‑being and identify opportunities for enhancing client independence and social involvement.
* Participate in continuous improvement and staff development processes as required by the Team Leader.
* Maintain professional boundaries with clients at all times.
* Perform duties within the limits of the incumbent's skill, competence, and training.


Qualifications and Experience

* Completed structured training at one or more of the following levels: Trade Certificate or equivalent, TAFE accredited/industry‑based training courses, or on‑the‑job training commensurate with the role.


Selection Criteria

* Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent) and competencies in Level 2 First Aid, CPR, medication monitoring and food handling.
* Experience in general household duties, respite care and personal care tasks.
* Effective communication skills, non‑judgmental and empathic with older people, people with disabilities and their carers.
* Awareness and support of healthy ageing philosophies and the Active Service Model.
