Your new role
As a Fitter, you will work as part of a close-knit shutdown team at NRG Gladstone, supporting a planned boiler outage. The role involves hands-on mechanical maintenance tasks across strip‑down, inspection, repair, and re-commissioning phases of critical plant and power generation equipment. You'll operate within a heavy industrial environment, following strict safety systems, procedures, and schedules to ensure the shutdown is delivered safely, efficiently, and to required standards. Teamwork, reliability, and a strong safety focus are essential to success in this outage‑based role.
What you'll need to succeed
* Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter in a shutdown environment
* Clam Shell Machining Experience
* Strong ability to work effectively within a team‑based outage setting, with clear communication skills
* Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, procedures, and personal accountability
* Trade qualification: Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
* Current tickets including - Enter & Work in Confined Spaces (RIIWHS202E), Working at Heights (RIIWHS204E - current within 3 years), Construction White Card, Valve overhaul experience would be an advantage.
* Reliable, safety‑focused, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced outage environment
* Ability to DIDO & complete full 2 weeks
* 2 x Previous References

You'll secure a casual DIDO outage role at Callide Power Station in Biloela for a 2-week duration. The position offers a Monday to Saturday roster with day & night shifts available, working 11‑hour shifts throughout the outage period. You'll receive competitive rates with overtime penalties calculated from the base rate, plus LAHA or accommodation provided for eligible distant workers. You'll be part of a supportive team delivering Downer's Callide outage.
