As our social media officer, you'll be at the forefront of telling the stories that matter to working people across Victoria. You'll craft compelling narratives about workplace victories, member achievements, and union campaigns that resonate with both current members and the broader community. This involves developing a content calendar that balances immediate responses to industrial issues with longer-term strategic messaging around workers' rights, safety campaigns, and union values.
Key Responsibilities
 * Develop and implement engaging social media content across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok
 * Create multimedia content including graphics, videos, and written posts that align with union messaging
 * Monitor social media channels and respond to member inquiries and community engagement
 * Research and report on social media trends and platform updates relevant to union communications
 * Assist with live coverage of union events, rallies, and campaigns
 * Support broader communications activities including website content and member newsletters
 * Maintain brand consistency across all digital platforms
Essential Requirements
 * Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their unique audiences
 * Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail
 * Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
 * Strong organisational skills, including multitasking and meeting deadlines
 * Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
 * Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite preferred)
 * Video editing skills
 * Commitment to social justice and workers' rights
 * Available to work 2 days per week during business hours
