We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and manage projects while delivering mechanical services designs from concept through to construction. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with responsibility for coordinating teams, engaging with clients, and driving high-performance, efficient, and sustainable systems across sectors including education, living, commercial, retail, healthcare, and life sciences. This role is based in Sydney, where you\'ll play a key role within our multidisciplinary team, leading projects, mentoring engineers, and working closely with clients to deliver smarter, healthier buildings that push industry standards forward.

What is your role?
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in leading the delivery of complex mechanical building services projects across a range of sectors. You will combine strong technical capability with project leadership and client-facing experience, taking ownership of design outcomes from concept through to construction while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:
* Lead the design and documentation of mechanical services, including HVAC, mechanical ventilation, and associated building services systems, from early concept through to construction completion.
* Act as project lead on assigned projects, coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing inputs from architects, builders, project managers, and other stakeholders.
* Provide strong technical leadership and oversight, ensuring designs comply with Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC), and relevant local authority requirements.
* Drive high-quality, sustainable and energy-efficient design outcomes, embedding best-practice principles across all stages of project delivery.
* Engage directly with clients as a trusted technical advisor, presenting design solutions, managing expectations, and contributing to long-term client relationships.
* Undertake site inspections and support construction-phase delivery, including responding to RFIs and ensuring design intent is achieved on site.
* Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team.

About You
* Educational Background: A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
* Experience: 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience within the Australian Building Services industry, with proven experience leading projects from concept through to construction and acting as the primary technical and client contact.
* Technical Skills: Strong expertise in HVAC and mechanical services design, load calculations, energy efficiency strategies, and a detailed understanding of Australian codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
* Leadership & Client Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities, mentor engineers, and confidently engage with clients and project stakeholders.
* Attributes: Highly organized, technically curious, commercially aware, and collaborative, with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
