* Problem-solving skills: The ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner is crucial.
* Initiative & Self-Motivation: Initiative and self-motivation are key qualities for this position.
* Systematic Reasoning: A systematic approach to problem-solving is necessary.
Essential qualifications include MED1, current National Police Clearance, current First Aid, sound working knowledge of welding, boiler making, AC & DC Electrics, hydraulic systems, practical experience in shipbuilding and repair, working knowledge of OH&S systems and regulations, elements of Shipboard Safety Certificate.
Desirable Qualifications
* Trade Certificate: A trade certificate is highly desirable.
* Confined Space: Experience working in confined spaces is advantageous.
* Working at Heights Certificate: A working at heights certificate is also beneficial.
