**About our School**:

- Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College is a new school that opened in Werribee in January 2024. On opening Walcom Ngarrwa, welcomed 177 Year 7 students to the school community. Over the coming years, the school will add a new year level every year through until 2029, when we will have students from Year 7-12.
- At Walcom Ngarrwa we are on a mission to provide the best education we can for our students by delivering high impact, evidence-based practices in learning and wellbeing, within a culture of high expectations for success. **Healthy, happy and curious students** and staff bring our vision and values to life.
- Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College builds bright futures for the young people of the local communities.** Achievement, Belonging and Curiosity** underpin the development of an aspirational and inclusive school community that supports each student on their learning journey to a pathway through and beyond school. We foster strong connections with community to ensure today¿s learners can thrive as generous, active and informed citizens.
- In 2025 our school community was made up of 440 students in total, across Year 7 & 8. Four percent of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 32 percent of students had English as an additional language. Our staff team comprised 1 Principal, 2 Assistant Principal, 3 Leading Teachers, 2 Learning Specialists, 21 Classroom Teachers, 2 Para Professionals, and 16 Education Support Staff.
- In 2026 we are excited to be delivering a Year 9 program for our students.

**Our Facilities**:

- Stage 1 state of the art educational facilities are now complete and includes:

- The Red Giant - our amazing two storey Science and Technology building - with dedicated labs, materials and digital technology
- The Nexus - our Learning Neighbourhood - featuring 9 general classrooms, multiple presentation and seminar spaces and an array of quiet and small group collaborative areas.
- The Pavilion - our Community Hub that features 1 indoor basketball court, music and media spaces and a 100 seat auditorium.
- Outside - we have extensive outdoor basketball courts as well as manicured landscaping that allows for multipurpose outdoor learning experiences.
- Stage 2 funding has just been announced in the latest state budget and is due for completion by the start of the 2027 school year. This will include an additional Learning Neighbourhood, Administrative Building that includes admin, library and wellbeing spaces, and school playing field.

**Selection Criteria**:
**SC1** Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.

**SC2** Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.

**SC3** Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

**SC4** Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

**SC5** Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.

**Role**:

- The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges
- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.
- As the classroom teacher gains experience his or her contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rost
