About the role
As Section Head - Programs and Strategic Engagement within the Waste and Resource Recovery business unit, you'll lead a small high-impact team focussed on advancing Tasmania's transition to a circular economy.
- Design and deliver key waste and resource recovery initiatives.
- Work with industry, regional stakeholders, and the community to ensure the successful implementation of funded programs.
- Contribute to policy development.
- Support innovation within the sector.
This is a permanent position located in either Hobart, Launceston or Devonport (to be negotiated).
About the Waste & Resource Recovery Board
The Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board (the Board) plays a key role in reinvesting the landfill levy and is dedicated to driving impactful investment, and ensure Tasmania continues to advance towards a more sustainable resource recovery system, reducing waste to landfill and keeping valuable resources in use for as long as possible.
The Board is focussed on targeted resource recovery initiatives, robust data collection, and analysis to inform future decision-making and delivering results that reduce waste and shape the future of waste and resource recovery in the state.
Since its establishment under the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022 (the Act) in July 2022, the Board has laid the groundwork for meaningful change. With significant investments already made in core infrastructure, community capacity-building, and strategic partnerships, are now in a position to accelerate action and strengthen long-term outcomes.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
- A relevant tertiary qualification in a field such as science, business management or economics as provided by either a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
- A current motor vehicle driver's licence.
