About The Role The ABC is looking for a dedicated and motivated MCR (Radio) Operator to join our Brisbane Master Control team. In this pivotal role, you’ll support the seamless delivery of our local and network radio programs by operating, monitoring, and maintaining our broadcast and distribution systems. Working closely with the MCR Lead and production teams, you’ll be responsible for ensuring program and network requirements are met - from compiling and editing switching schedules to managing local and state transmission paths. You’ll play an important role in identifying and logging technical faults, assisting in restoring services, and supporting the team to uphold broadcast standards. This hands-on operational role offers the opportunity to develop your technical and broadcast expertise while working in a fast-paced environment that keeps Australia connected and informed. You have a passion for broadcast operations and a keen interest in learning and developing new technical skills. You Bring Experience or strong understanding of on-air or production operations in a broadcasting environment. Working knowledge of scheduling systems, switching operations, and transmission technologies. The ability to diagnose and report faults effectively and support their resolution. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration. A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement, aligned with the ABC Values – Aim High, Think Differently, Take Ownership, Deliver Together. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent on-the-job experience are desirable. Due to the nature of this role, you must be willing and able to work within a 24/7 rotating roster.
