THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a leading national multi-disciplinary consulting firm at Canberra Airport. This full-time position offers the chance to work on large-scale commercial (Class 3–9) and aviation projects, ensuring compliance in a highly regulated, federally governed environment. Candidates not yet accredited but close to achieving accreditation are encouraged to apply. You will report directly to the Airport Building Controller and play a key role in regulatory compliance, liaising with clients, consultants, and airport stakeholders.

DUTIES
Conduct BCA/NCC assessments and provide expert regulatory advice
Issue permits and authorisations in line with the Airports Act **** and Airports (Building Control) Regulations ****
Undertake on-site inspections and prepare compliance reports
Engage in performance-based solution assessments with fire engineers and Fire & Rescue
Represent the Airport Building Controller in client meetings, workshops, and compliance training
Navigate a fast-paced, highly regulated environment with professionalism and accuracy
ABOUT YOU
Accredited, or close to accreditation, with AIBS, Access Canberra, Local Government, or private sector as:
Principal or General Building Surveyor
Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, or related discipline
Sound knowledge of BCA Volumes 1 & 2 and relevant Australian Standards
Familiarity with the Airports Act and Airport Building Control Regulations highly regarded
Experience managing a diverse range of commercial and/or infrastructure projects (residential experience also considered)
Strong interpersonal, time management, and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam Revu
Australian citizenship required (baseline security clearance eligibility)
