As a member of the Promontory Australia team at IBM you will contribute to the firm’s efforts in working with clients on challenging strategic, risk management, and regulatory compliance issues. We have a diverse client base in Australia, which includes some of Australia’s largest financial institutions and public sector clients.
Risk Management – Providing advisory and assurance services regarding organisational transformation across risk management, governance, culture, accountability and compliance.
Remediation Services – Assurance to regulators and firms over customer focused remediation programs.
Regulatory Framework – Advising regulators and industry associations on building regulatory frameworks.
Regulatory Liaison – Helping our clients navigate relationships with regulators.
RegTech – Working with IBM teams and leveraging their technology assets in advising clients on AI-based solutions and associated risk governance.
Your Role and Responsibilities As a Strategy Consultant specializing in Compliance & Conduct Risk, you will advise and strategize with clients to develop solutions addressing their most complex regulatory issues. This role involves working predominantly with financial institutions to minimize their overall risk while adhering to their business strategy.
Develop Regulatory Solutions – Collaborate with clients to understand their unique regulatory challenges and design tailored solutions that align with business objectives, ensuring minimal risk exposure.
Strategize Risk Management – Identify potential compliance and conduct risks and develop mitigation strategies that meet regulatory requirements and business needs.
Provide Expert Advisory – Offer expert advice on regulatory matters, informing strategic decision-making.
Foster Client Relationships – Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, primarily financial institutions, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective delivery.
Manage Projects – Act as client point of contact on a day-to-day basis, contributing to engagements delivered within budget and achieving profit and realisation targets.
Analyze and Deliver – Undertake analysis, prepare project deliverables including reports and presentations.
Engage Executives – Work comfortably with executive management and regulatory authorities.
Communicate – Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills, clearly and concisely presenting findings and recommendations.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
Regulatory Framework Knowledge – Experience with financial institution regulatory frameworks.
Industry Benchmarking – Analyzing industry benchmarks and best practices for compliance and conduct risk management.
Academic Background – Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Law; postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
Experience – At least 6 years in Financial services, Consulting, Regulator, Compliance, Risk management, Governance or legal.
Innovation – Proven track record working in fast-paced, unstructured environments, identifying and developing innovative solutions.
Analytics and Data – Delivering data-intensive work, strong data governance knowledge, experience with large unstructured datasets.
AI – Understanding of AI fundamentals, governance, model development and application.
Superannuation – Preferably with an APRA background, risk culture, ASIC/Markets experience.
