Job purpose
The Retail Buyer will be responsible for providing a structured, highly commercial and strategic input to select, purchase, and manage the inventory of retail goods by analysing market trends, consumer preferences, and sales data to make informed purchasing decisions for the Bernardi Group
Duties and responsibilities
Commercial
* Ensure implementation of the weekly/monthly/yearly commercial plan for stores based on global guidelines.
* Ensures the execution of the concept in close collaboration with the local retail teams.
* Create a proactive and relevant annual Commercial calendar and planning framework.
* Develop deeper data analytics and reporting to support proactive Trading initiatives in the Retail Team, including deeper understanding in category and price points.
* Working alongside other partner functional managers to support delivery of business objectives in store Sales, Productivity, Store EBITDA and Inventory.
Ordering
* Mainly responsible for the end-to-end commitment order process
* Prepare commitment orders (together with input from other functions and Regional Managers locally)
* Ensuring orders support LFL sales growth and margin targets
* Observe campaigns and validate replenishment orders
* Assess needs for additional push orders
* Manage discrepancies of product orders
* Plan and confirm local price adjustments where needed
* Implement standardised product lifecycle routines
Logistics
* Handle product flow between/ to stores to optimise availability and stock holding
* Take care of outbound handling
* To be the main contact point for Logistics and Commercial Trade
Operations
* Follow up on picking mistakes with Logistics
* Implement inventory management routines to optimise stock holding and mitigate margin erosion
Retail Buyer core skills
* Ability to analyse costs / margins and report effectively
* High levels of Commercial acumen/awareness and attention to detail
* Experience interpreting commercial risks and drivers
* Experience working through a sales process
* Being proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word
* Strong analytical skills and critical thinking to interrogate and analyze information in order to drive financial and business decision
* Operations or business execution experience essential
* Tertiary qualifications and/or three years of relevant experience
