We are offering permanent positions, Full Time and/or Part Time appointments to fill 1.4 FTE.

Position profile

An exciting and rare opportunity is available for compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioners to join the Paediatric Palliative Care and Hospice Service for Western Australia, based across Perth Children's Hospital and the new Hospice. The Specialist Paediatric Palliative Care service is expanding to include a state-of-the-art, 7-bed Children's Hospice which will be the first of its kind in Western Australia.

Responsibilities
* The Nurse Practitioner will work autonomously to perform advanced physical assessment, request and interpret diagnostic and/or screening investigations, initiate and manage complex healthcare requirements, initiate referrals to relevant health providers and prescribe appropriate medications and other therapies.
* The role will provide clinical leadership as appropriate and will have responsibility for developing standards of practice, initiating research, leading quality improvement activities and implementing changes to clinical practice.
* The Nurse Practitioner practices at an advanced level within their scope of practice considerate of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Nurse Practitioner standards of practice.
About Sandcastles (Boodja Mia) Children's Hospice

Due to commence operations mid-2026. This purpose-built, world-class paediatric hospice, located on the stunning Western Australian coast, offers statewide specialist paediatric palliative care services for children and young people (0–18 years) who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families. Relocation and sponsorship

International and Interstate applicants with suitable qualifications who are wishing to relocate are encouraged to apply. Sponsorship opportunities with a pathway to permanent residency or a permanent appointment for eligible applicants may be available.

Your ability to meet the work-related requirements will be assessed throughout the recruitment process. For your written application please read the following instructions carefully:

Within the application system you will be presented with the following three (3) questions designed to assess your qualifications against the Essential Selection Criteria outlined in the attached Job Description Form. Please review the Essential Criteria carefully when preparing your responses. These questions allow you to showcase your relevant skills and experiences in detail, and how they translate to the paediatric palliative care setting. There is a generous word limit of 500 words per question.

Essential selection criteria questions
* Describe a time when you took a leadership role in managing the care of a complex patient. Outline your role and explain how you supported staff and family during this time?
* How do you foster effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, particularly during emotionally challenging situations involving patients and their families?
* Can you give an example of how you've managed a challenging stakeholder relationship in a palliative care setting?
* A current resume which summarises your experience and includes both phone and email contact details of two professional referees, with at least one being a recent supervisor/line manager.
