The Team:

Alcohol and Drug Services (ADS) is a part of the Department of Health (DOH) that cares for the needs of clients accessing treatment Alcohol and other Drugs in Southern Tasmania. The service operates on a Multidisciplinary team model of care, all our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. The role is situated in the Inpatient Withdrawal Unit (IPWU) of the Alcohol and Drug Service at St John's Park in New Town. We are a friendly, supportive and welcoming team. There is opportunity here for someone seeking to expand their knowledge and skill in this area. As a member of the IPWU team you will specialise in providing support to people seeking to address issues around their substance use.

The Role:

As a member of a health management team working within a clinical setting, the Detoxification Officer assists health professionals in the treatment and management of persons with alcohol and drug related problems admitted to the Inpatient Withdrawal Unit (IPWU).

You will need:

1. Demonstrated experience in working with individuals with ongoing alcohol and drug related problems.
2. Demonstrated competency and experience in the provision of basic personal care support within a health care setting.
3. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; work cooperatively and constructively within a team environment.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working 16 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: Operational Health Officer, Level 3

$67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata). Our Em ployer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

* Certificate IV in Alcohol and Drug Work from a recognised training provider
* Current First Aid Certificate from a recognised training provider
* Current Driver’s Licence
