Korean Kitchen BBQ Pty Ltd is currently seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our dynamic team in the heart of Cavill Lane, Surfers Paradise, QLD. As a well-established and highly regarded Korean barbecue restaurant, we pride ourselves on delivering authentic Korean cuisine, premium grilled meats, and a unique interactive dining experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining our high standards by preparing and cooking a wide range of traditional Korean dishes, including Bibimbap, Kimchi Jjigae, Bulgogi, Japchae, and Ddeokbokki, using fresh and carefully selected ingredients. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated cook who is enthusiastic about Korean cuisine and eager to contribute to a vibrant, fast-paced kitchen that caters to both local patrons and international visitors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Prepare, season, and cook a variety of authentic Korean dishes, including grilled meats, soups, stews, and traditional side dishes (banchan), in accordance with established recipes and standards.
● Assist in the preparation and marination of meats (e.g., Bulgogi, Galbi) and ensure proper portioning and presentation for Korean BBQ service.
● Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation and cooking to ensure consistency, freshness, and high standards of taste and presentation.
● Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, grills, and cooking appliances safely and efficiently.
● Ensure all food is prepared and stored in compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and kitchen policies.
● Assist with stock control, including checking deliveries, storing ingredients appropriately, and notifying supervisors of shortages.
● Maintain a clean and organised kitchen workspace, including washing utensils, cleaning surfaces, and adhering to sanitation procedures.
● Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service, especially during busy dining periods.
● Assist in training junior kitchen staff where required and follow directions from senior chefs or kitchen supervisors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
● At least AQF Certificate III or higher qualification in commercial cookery.
● At least 1 year of relevant work experience in a similar role.
● Demonstrated skills in preparing and cooking authentic Korean cuisine.
● Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
● Sound knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP principles,
● Experience in operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
● Strong organisational and time management skills.
● Effective communication skills and the ability to coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and timely food service.
● Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
