About the Role Reporting to the Director Technical Services, you'll set the strategic direction for capital works, civil infrastructure, and building maintenance.
You'll manage key business units—City Projects, Civil Maintenance, and Facility Management—while ensuring operations at the John XXIII Depot run smoothly.
Your leadership will ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and aligned with long-term community needs while fostering a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement.
Your Key Responsibilities Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team across engineering, project delivery and maintenance Drive strategic planning, budgeting and operational performance for infrastructure programmes Provide expert advice to Council and senior stakeholders on capital works and asset management Build strong partnerships with government agencies, contractors and community stakeholders Champion safety, innovation and change integration across all operations Represent the City in forums, workshops and strategic planning initiatives What You Bring Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction or related field Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar leadership role within infrastructure or public sector operations Strong financial acumen and experience managing large-scale budgets and contracts Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence and National Police Clearance Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical Bonus Points For Professional Engineer registration with Engineers Australia Qualifications in business or project management Experience in local government or public infrastructure delivery Benefits Competitive salary package: A$164,488 – A$201,114 (inclusive of super) 5-Year full-time contract Five weeks annual leave + up to 14% superannuation Flexible working arrangements and ongoing professional development Employee wellbeing programs including EAP, fitness passport and health perks A workplace that values culture, collaboration and innovation The Fine Print Check out the full Position Description for all the details Applicants must have Australian work rights Got questions?
