About Our Client

Our client is an industry leader known for exceptional culture, high retention, and a genuine commitment to "getting it right" from a compliance perspective. This is a business that sees payroll accuracy as a strategic priority and backs it with investment, strong governance, and a continuous improvement mindset across the organisation. You'll join a high‐performing project team made up of payroll, HR, legal, finance, and data specialists who collaborate brilliantly and value expertise. The leadership team is supportive, forward‐thinking, and passionate about building a best‐practice compliance environment - not just for this project, but long term.

Job Description

This role sits at the heart of a large‐scale payroll remediation program, where your expertise will directly influence the integrity and accuracy of the final outcomes. You will provide specialist support in interpreting industrial instruments, validating data models, and reviewing complex calculations to ensure that employees are paid correctly - past, present, and future. If you thrive in detailed award interpretation, love verifying modelling logic, enjoy working with large datasets, and get satisfaction from contributing to a project that truly matters, this will be a rewarding fit.

* Interpret and apply Awards, EBAs, contracts, and pay rules to ensure accurate remediation outcomes.
* Validate and verify large‐scale underpayment modelling produced by internal teams and external advisors.
* Analyse complex payroll datasets to identify anomalies, trends, and root causes.
* Work closely with data analysts to ensure modelling assumptions align with industrial instrument requirements.
* Conduct scenario testing, edge‐case reviews, and gap analysis on remediation logic.
* Provide subject‐matter expertise on historical payroll practices and compliance obligations.
* Contribute to process improvements to strengthen ongoing payroll compliance.
* Prepare documentation, audit evidence, and reporting to support internal and external stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

* Deep knowledge of Awards, EBAs, allowances, penalties, rostering rules, and historical interpretation nuances.
* Strong analytical capability.
* Experience reviewing or building payroll calculation models will be advantageous.
* Experience in payroll remediation, payroll compliance, or workforce relations projects (advantageous).
* Ability to work confidently with large datasets.
* Strong attention to detail and a mindset geared toward accuracy and defensibility.
* Excellent collaboration skills - able to partner effectively with payroll, HR, legal, data, and project teams.

What's on Offer

* Excellent remuneration and flexibility options.
* Work on a major, large‐scale remediation project with real organisational impact.
* Join a business with excellent culture, strong retention, and genuinely supportive leadership.
* Be part of a high‐calibre, collaborative project team that values your expertise.
* A company committed to doing the right thing and embedding ongoing compliance improvements.
* An opportunity to influence not just the project outcome, but future payroll accuracy and processes.
* 12-18 month (initial) fixed term contract (likely extension given size/scope of the project).
