As the Staff Software Engineer working for Unloan at CBA, you will help drive business growth by driving innovation at the intersection of technology, security, and intelligent automation.
Operating in a full-stack, full-cycle engineering environment, you will build complex and highly scalable designs working with TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, and GraphQL API, cloud native ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable solutions from inception to production.
Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Crew Tech Lead of Unloans Origination Crew, you will drive Agentic AI and automation to streamline operations, enhance decision-making, and accelerate delivery. At Unloan Originations, you'll be part of a focused, high-performing crew driving the three core chapters of our platform, Assessment, Settlement and Lender Experience. This is the engine room of Unloan, where real-time decisioning, intelligent workflows, and seamless settlement experiences come together to power a fully digital home loan journey. Your work directly shapes how quickly customers receive answers, how smoothly applications move through the system, and how confidently we deliver on our promise of simplicity and transparency.
You'll work within a tight-knit team of engineers, product thinkers, and designers who own their domains end to end. The crew is focused on advancing AI-driven engineering across originations, embedding smarter assessment models, automating complex approval pathways, and reducing friction through intelligent document processing and decision support. This isn't experimentation for its own sake; it's purposeful innovation that improves speed, accuracy, and fairness at scale. You will help define long-term architecture while solving complex engineering challenges. You anticipate change, challenge the status quo, and use emerging AI capabilities to unlock better ways of working. In a cloud-native, secure by design platform built for continuous evolution, you'll help drive the next wave of transformation for Unloan.
What you'll do
* Build and ship exceptional products – hands-on engineer with deep expertise across TypeScript, Next.js and GraphQL who knows what "great" looks like and delivers it.

Tech Skills
We don't expect you to know everything, but experience in several of the following will set you up for success:
* Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js, and GraphQL, designing scalable, production-ready applications with a modern JavaScript architecture mindset.
* Practical experience with Generative AI frameworks and agentic AI patterns, applying automation to improve developer productivity and customer experiences.
* Experience leveraging multi-agent capabilities within modern IDEs to orchestrate complex development workflows and manage AI agents.
* Applied commander/orchestrator design patterns to delegate work across specialized AI sub-agents, enabling structured task decomposition and efficient delivery of software outputs.
* Strong hands-on engineering, delivering initiatives from concept through deployment.
* Experience across AWS and Azure, with Docker/Kubernetes and modern CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions.
* Focused on quality through automated testing (Jest, Storybook, Playwright) and reliability in the development lifecycle.
* Use modern observability and monitoring platforms for performance, scalability, and operational insight.
* Technical leader with a growth mindset, guiding teams through complex challenges while driving FinTech innovation.
