Pangula Mannamurna Aboriginal Corporation (PMAC) is a Community Controlled Health Organisation located in Mount Gambier providing a comprehensive primary health care service to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the Limestone Coast. PMAC as an organisation is committed to the safety of children and young people, working within community to provide services so they feel safe, included and strong in culture.
Position Purpose
Provide practical day-to-day support and assistance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families and community navigating the health and community support systems involved in and around the cancer journey. This will involve stakeholder mapping, establishing referral pathways to support services and liaison with medical and non-medical staff.
Responsibilities
* Community outreach to promote cancer support services within PMAC's serviceable area
* Supporting and guiding clients and their families through the available cancer support network
* Establish, and maintain, good working relationships with relevant agencies, both internally and externally
* Uphold organisation, employee and client confidentiality and maintain a professional approach in all situations within both the community and the work environment
Desirables
* Demonstrated experience in engaging with and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and individuals
* Well developed communication and time management skills
* Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the available cancer support services
Requirements
* Well developed computer skills, Microsoft Office suite utilised at PMAC
* Out of hours work, and inter/intra state travel
* Current full Drivers Licence
* Current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and DHS Working with Children clearance
