The Role
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team and take ownership of procurement, supplier management and stock control. This is a hands-on position that works closely with production and engineering teams to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently, ensuring we deliver the right products, at the right time, with the right support.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain stock supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and improve material supply timelines.
* Maintain stock levels and oversee inventory control to support production and aftermarket needs without excess or waste.
* Manage purchasing activities and job set up through our M1 ERP system and support transition from legacy system.
* Support engineering with BOM data through CADLink integration
* Develop and implement improvements to our stores system ensuring materials are organised, accessible and ready for production.
* Lead the stores and parts-picking team, implementing lean systems such as KANBAN to improve efficiency
* Conduct detailed job cost analysis, report on profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Collaborate across production and engineering to resolve material issues and streamline processes.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives in purchasing, inventory and stores management.
About You
* Proven experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain management (manufacturing/engineering preferred)
* Strong ERP experience (M1 system highly regarded; CADLink knowledge a bonus)
* Solid understanding of job cost analysis and budgeting
* Excellent negotiation, problem solving and supplier management skills
* Strong leadership ability and experience managing a team
* Strong attention to detail with a passion for continuous improvement and a solutions-oriented approach.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
