Contract - AI Support Engineer

You'll be joining a major NSW Government department based in Sydney that is investing heavily in advanced technology to strengthen its digital capabilities. Your new role
This position sits within a specialised engineering team responsible for maintaining the performance and reliability of the department's AI systems. You will act as the first point of contact for operational issues, oversee incident response, and keep a close eye on system behaviour across cloud environments. The role involves working alongside developers, cloud specialists, and operational teams to maintain system stability, troubleshoot issues, and refine support processes. You will also contribute to ongoing improvements in monitoring, documentation, and support frameworks.
What you'll need to succeed
* Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
* Background supporting AI-driven or cloud-hosted applications.
* Working knowledge of Python or JavaScript to assist with diagnosing technical issues.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, particularly its monitoring and analytics tools.
* Understanding of REST APIs, system logs, and performance indicators.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
* Confident communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams.
* A proactive approach to identifying risks and resolving issues independently.
* Desirable experience includes exposure to AI or machine learning environments, automation of monitoring or alerting, ITIL-aligned support practices, and service management platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira Service Management.
