General Manager Customer and Operations
Tasmanian Irrigation Pty Ltd
Launceston, Tasmania | Full-time Executive Appointment

About Tasmanian Irrigation
Tasmanian Irrigation Pty Ltd is a State-owned company responsible for developing and operating irrigation schemes that support water security and agricultural productivity across Tasmania. The organisation works closely with irrigators, communities and government to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable water services in a variable and changing climate.

Tasmanian Irrigation currently manages 21 irrigation schemes across the state, with an infrastructure portfolio valued at approximately $680 million, encompassing dams, pipelines, pump stations and associated assets that underpin agricultural and regional economic development.

The Opportunity
Tasmanian Irrigation is exclusively partnering with Searson Buck to appoint an experienced executive to the role of General Manager Customer and Operations. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and carries broad accountability for customer outcomes, operational performance and the long-term sustainability of the organisation’s service delivery model. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a significant public infrastructure business at a time of growth, transformation and increasing regulatory and environmental complexity.

The Role
The General Manager, Customer and Operations, is responsible for the end-to-end performance of customer experience, statewide water delivery operations, asset management and maintenance, dam safety governance, and environmental compliance teams, to ensure water services are delivered safely, reliably, and efficiently while maintaining trust and confidence. A strong focus of the position is embedding a customer-focused operating model that integrates operational delivery, asset planning, engineering, digital systems and asset intelligence to support long-term service reliability and financial sustainability.

Leading a large and diverse portfolio, you will provide executive oversight of operational performance, critical infrastructure risk, and environmental and dam safety obligations across all schemes. You will drive continuous improvement through data-informed decision making, system optimisation and the adoption of emerging technologies, while also providing executive leadership in incident and crisis management when required.

The Person
You will bring extensive senior leadership experience gained within operations, utilities, infrastructure or other asset-intensive environments and will have demonstrated success delivering reliable services within regulated settings. Your background will include strong capability in asset management, operational performance and risk governance, supported by well-developed commercial acumen and experience contributing to budgeting, pricing, cost optimisation and long-term financial sustainability initiatives.

You are a confident and credible executive who can engage effectively with customers, community representatives, regulators and government stakeholders, while also operating comfortably at CEO and Board level.

Experience in the water industry, irrigation or a comparable utility sector will be highly regarded, along with exposure to dam safety governance, high-risk infrastructure management and digital or asset intelligence transformation. Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, environmental science, business or a related discipline are desirable.

The Offer
This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an organisation that delivers essential services to communities across Tasmania. You will work at an executive level in a complex and purpose-driven environment, with the scope to influence strategy, culture and long-term outcomes while leading a highly capable and committed team.

Application Process
To apply or to have a confidential discussion about this opportunity, please contact Jess Wilson at Searson Buck on 0448 530 *** or email *******@searsonbuck.com.au

Applicants are required to submit a covering letter that clearly addresses the key selection criteria outlined in the position description. The position description is available on request by contacting Jess.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
