Belongside Families is a family‐led organisation supporting over 5,000 parents and carers of children with disability across NSW each year. We are independent and peer‐led, grounded in lived experience.
We deliver online programs, peer support, workshops and one‐on‐one guidance that help families feel more confident, connected and capable to support their child and family to thrive.
The Opportunity
This is a newly created role at a critical point in Belongside's growth. As our first dedicated fundraising professional, you will build and lead our non‐government revenue function from the ground up – developing the pipeline, relationships and systems that will underpin our long‐term sustainability.
Working closely with the CEO and Board, you will take funding opportunities from first conversation through to secured commitment across both philanthropy and corporate partnerships.
Part‐time (0.6 or 0.8 FTE) with flexible hours. Work from our Marrickville office, home, or a hybrid arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and lead an annual fundraising strategy with clear targets across philanthropy and corporate partnerships
* Work with the CEO, Board and Programs and Marketing teams to develop a compelling case for support and corporate pitch deck, and to build a strong pipeline of major donor and corporate partner prospects through research, and by drawing on the networks and connections of staff, Board and supporters.
* Design and implement cultivation strategies and develop high‐quality funding proposals to secure support from individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners.
* Establish simple, effective systems to track opportunities, relationships and funding progress, and develop communication and stewardship plans to retain and grow donor and partner engagement and support.
* Use grant management software to identify and track grant opportunities, prepare high‐quality grant applications, and ensure timely delivery of reports and acquittals.
* Represent Belongside externally across relevant networks, events, and stakeholder forums to build visibility and strengthen relationships.
* Report regularly on pipeline performance and income results and collaborate with the Program and Marketing teams to communicate fundraising impact.
About You
You have a track record of securing funding and are comfortable building from scratch. You take ownership, follow through, and know how to move opportunities to commitment.
You bring:
* Demonstrated experience securing funding through philanthropy, corporate partnerships, or both
* Confidence in identifying and approaching new prospects, and in leading funding conversations from negotiation through to commitment
* Strong relationship‐building and stakeholder engagement skills
* Strong written communication skills – proposals and applications that get results
* The ability to translate programs and impact into compelling funding narratives
* Experience working autonomously in a lean, fast‐moving organisation
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Experience managing pipelines, CRM systems and reporting
* Experience in the not‐for‐profit, community or human services sector is highly regarded.
We strongly value lived experience of parenting or caring for a child with disability and warmly welcome applications from people with this experience.
