About the Business
At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousand of kilometres of roads and managing our city’s public transport network.

Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community.

Initiatives in community we are particularly proud of:

* Working in partnership with the Fleurieu Connections Alliance to deliver a number of programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This includes the Road to Redemption, a program designed to help reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal people in the correctional system.
* Established dual naming for the Port Road Underpass bridge, through partnerships with Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation and local artists.
* Collaborated with the Kaurna Working Group to ensure cultural recognition within our urban art on the Tatachilla Underpass, Pedler Creek Bridge, Coast to Vines Underpass and Landscape Rest nodes along the shared used paths.
* Creation of a GIS Map layer which shows the Native Title Boundaries for the entire State.
* Completion of the Mukapaanthi Monument remembering Aboriginal Veterans at the intersection of Goodwood, Springbank and Daws roads at Panorama.
* Walpaara Anpa Awards initiative which has provided over 200 laptops since 2006 to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to bridge the digital divide.
* Installation of the Aboriginal Artwork Tram Wraps, which were produced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across 8 schools. Each school worked with their local and community Elders to ensure that their artwork was a true reflection of their area.

Why join our Graduate Program?

* Career development: We offer comprehensive training programs, mentorship opportunities, and clear career progression paths to help you grow.
* Health and wellbeing: We support a wide range of health and wellbeing initiatives such as our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which includes a First Nations specific support program, free annual flu vaccinations, and the Fitness Passport program.
* Flexible working arrangements: Enjoy work-life balance with options like flexi-time, working from home, various flexible working arrangements, purchased leave, cultural leave and more.
* Impactful work: Be part of projects that make a tangible difference in the community and contribute to South Australia’s future.
* Cultural safety: Access to Aboriginal representation at all stages of your employment, culturally specific career development programs, and ability to join monthly Aboriginal employee meetings and attend our annual Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff summit.

The Opportunity
We’d love to hear from university graduates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, who have completed a minimum three-year degree within the last three years in any discipline.

Where possible, we are very supportive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff who wish to remain and work on Country in South Australia. There are regional opportunities in Murray Bridge on Ngarrindjeri Country, in Crystal Brook on Kaurna Country and in Port Augusta on Nukunu Country.
Flexible working arrangements: Enjoy work-life balance with options like flexi-time, working from home, various flexible working arrangements, purchased leave, cultural leave and more.
