Job Overview

The Office of School Health (OSH) nursing program is a collaborative effort between school nurses, nursing supervisors, and Public Health Advisors / Assistants. This team works under the guidance of borough-specific assistant nursing directors to manage staffing and direct care delivery.


Key Responsibilities

* We review referrals and documents to recommend appropriate nursing services for students with specific needs.
* Collaboration with nurse colleagues is essential for case coordination.
* Medication and procedure forms are reviewed for students as part of our responsibilities.
* We perform individual case management and coordination to ensure student needs are met.
* Access to student information systems allows us to review and request reports.
* Liaison with agencies contracted to provide services for students is also necessary.
* We communicate with other disciplines such as IEP and Section 504 teams, medical providers, legal counsel, school-based staff, families, and contract agencies.
