Shark Bay Seafoods is seeking Fishing/Deck Hand(s) with a minimum 2 years experience including net mending & fish handling. Based on commercial vessels operating out of WA. Seasonal work in various fisheries (EG: Prawn/Scampi & Fish Trawl) for year round operation based out of either Carnarvon or Point Samson.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE GOALS:
* Maintain a high standard of work ethics and follow directions in a timely and safe manner
* Attaching gear and fastening towing cables to nets
* Preparing and assisting with lowering gear into water
* Assist with bringing the net on board to unload catch to sorting table, removing fish and other marine life
* Sort catch as directed and load into brine for chilling or into cartons for freezing
* Sort & pack product from brine into chiller as directed
* Product for freezing to be loaded into Snap Freezer
* Sorting, cleaning, preserving, stowing, freezing/refrigerating catch on time & to a high standard
* Ensure correct seafood handling procedures are always followed
* Ensure deck & processing area is clean and safe and all loose items are safely secured
* Performing routine maintenance and checks
* Watch keeping duties as authorised by the master with direct supervision of any unlicensed persons while on watch
* Handling ropes and wires, and operating mooring equipment when berthing and unberthing
* Unloading of vessel at completion of trip, with correct equipment operation methods
* Assist with any net repairs or changeovers required while in Port
* Assist with preparation for next trip including water & fuel tank refill and re-stocking of provisions
* Assist with cleanup and general maintenance of vessel while in Port
* Abide by workplace OH&S policies and procedures
* Participate and contribute to emergency response plans and training
Consecutive days at sea will vary from 7-22 days pending catch rates, unload schedules, weather, moon breaks etc.
Minimum salary $68,863.50 pa.
