What you can expect
We've developed a comprehensive program that is up to three-years in length which offers a high level of support, skills development, and career advancement.
So, you're guaranteed to be working with some of the most experienced and respected people in the business, on some of the most exciting and important projects in the energy sector.
You'll get your career off to a great start, with:
- A versatile graduate development program; up to three years
- four six month rotations, followed by a 12-month rotation
- mini one week rotations - to strengthen your relationships across the business and broaden your skillset
- an annual grad workshop where you'll learn, grow and be challenged with other graduates
- ongoing coaching and mentoring from senior leaders including a personal mentor
- a pairing with an experienced graduate as a buddy to support you in your first year

- graduate by the end of the academic year
- hold a Bachelor or Masters degree relevant to the role you're applying for
- be available and ready to commence work full-time by February 2026

Graduate career pathways
We have developed six distinct pathways designed to help Engineers build their careers in specialised fields:
- Design: using your knowledge of our standards and works practises, develop innovative solutions to connect our customers and grow our network.
- Project & Program Management: lead projects and programs of work across our customer, network and maintenance portfolios to keep the network safe, secure and reliable.
Corporate and Customer For people who have studied a degree in a range of disciplines, such as Business, Economics, Commerce, Law and Arts.
You'll work in a stream based on your qualifications and interests, plus have the opportunity to rotate across a range of teams to expand your capabilities.
We offer graduate placements in the following business areas:
- Business strategy, innovation and customer experience
- Regulation
- Health, Safety and Sustainability
Rotations may include:
- Business strategy: contribute to initiative that improve business and customer outcomes
- Digital innovation: gain exposure to value assessments, technology analysis and experimentation
- Customer experience and operations: develop an understanding of our customer strategy and our approach to improving customer experience
- Regulatory resets: develop an understanding of the development and rigour required to prepare expenditure business cases to support a regulatory reset proposal
- Pricing and revenue analysis: understand the principles involved in setting network tariffs and monitoring their effectiveness on customer behaviour
- Compliance and reporting: learn the economic regulatory framework in which the businesses operate and reporting obligations to maintain our licences.
- Health, Safety and Sustainability: understand the real world application of policies, procedures, processes and legislation, governing Health and Safety and our ambitions to meet sustainability goals.
As well as opportunities to work in:
- Media, communication and stakeholder engagement
- Field operations
Finance For people that have studied a Bachelor or Master of Commerce or Business with a major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar.
Capture and analyse data essential for day-to-day reporting and medium to long term business decisions.
The program is designed to assist you with achieving Chartered Accounting/Certified Practicing Accounting status, while developing extensive knowledge of the energy market industry.
We offer graduate placements in the following business areas:
- Finance Business Partnering
- Taxation
- Treasury
Rotations may include:
- Financial accounting and reporting: application of core accounting principles, preparation of annual statutory accounts and monthly financial reports, gain exposure to month end, financial audits and cash flow management.
- Business partnering and management reporting: introduction to key business value drivers and business partnering concepts, preparation of business performance reports together with analysis to be provided to management and gain exposure to finance ERP systems.
- Financial planning and budgeting: assist in preparation of annual budgets, monthly forecasting and strategic financial planning.
- Taxation: understand income tax and indirect tax compliance and reporting, preparation of BAS, GST, FBT and income tax returns.
- Treasury: take an active lead in managing the group's cashflow position, assisting the treasury team with key risk management activities such as FX and interest rate risk.
Information Technology For people who have studied a Bachelor or Master of Information Systems, Bachelor or Master of Computer Science - or similar.
You'll have the chance to work on some of the 100+ capital projects in flight.
This could include optimising our web-based customer portal, implementing new technologies which allow us to better prevent, detect and respond to cybersecurity incidents, or crunching data collected by drones to assess the health of our network assets.
You'll have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas including:
- Cybersecurity: providing IT support and oversight to ensure security of IT and business assets
- Project delivery: implementing technology projects across our business to enhance how we work and operate the electricity network
- Application management: support and improve IT applications, and select, design and develop digital business solutions
- Dev-ops: design, build and operate software including coding
- Analytics: business analysis, data analytics and testing to ensure IT solutions meet business requirements
- Commercial and governance: report on IT performance including budgets, dashboards and KPIs to the CIO and stakeholders
- Technical engineering streams: testing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking systems
