Overview
We\'re seeking a creative and commercially driven Designer & Buyer to lead the sourcing, development and ranging of Unison\'s Menswear collection. This is a pivotal role where design meets buying - shaping product direction from concept through to production, ensuring strong commercial outcomes and brand alignment. You\'ll work closely with the Creative Director, Planning, Production, Marketing and Retail teams to deliver a cohesive, modern menswear range. This is a 12-month fixed term contract.
Responsibilities
* Lead seasonal trend research and translate insights into commercial menswear ranges
* Design, develop and source collections in partnership with suppliers and factories
* Manage end-to-end product development, including fittings, approvals and quality standards
* Deliver balanced ranges aligned to financial targets, margin requirements and OTB plans
* Analyse sales and stock performance to drive in-season trading and stock optimisation
* Negotiate costs with suppliers to achieve margin and pricing objectives
* Oversee sample management and ensure timely delivery to Marketing, E-commerce and Retail
* Present collections to key stakeholders across Creative, Planning, Marketing and VM
* Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure product readiness and strong market execution
* On-site role 5-days per week, based in our St Kilda Road offices
The Ideal Candidate
* Minimum 3 years\' experience in a similar Designer/Buyer role (menswear experience preferred)
* Tertiary qualification in Design, Fashion or Product Development (or equivalent experience)
* Strong commercial mindset with excellent numerical and analytical capability
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
* Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Creative Suite
* Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills
* Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Strong understanding of product, fit, construction and garment development
