About This Opportunity
The Business Development Manager (Partnerships) manages and strengthens relationships with international partners and agents in Japan and South Korea, and other markets as directed, to support strategic student recruitment and high-quality program delivery.
In this role, you will collaborate with UQC’s academic and administrative teams to co-design customised academic programs and study tours and works with UQ Future Students International and faculties to advance pathway and broader international recruitment objectives.
Through strong cross-functional collaboration, you will contribute to sustainable market growth, partner satisfaction, and the University’s international engagement strategy. Domestic and international travel is required to support recruitment, partnership development, and program delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
Partnership strategy, development and student recruitment
· Develop, manage, and strengthen strategic partnerships in Japan and South Korea to support long-term recruitment pipelines, program delivery, and institutional engagement.
· Lead partnership-focused initiatives and projects from concept to implementation, including market analysis, partner planning, and preparation of project briefs, proposals, and performance reports.
· Work closely with UQ Future Students International and faculties to align partnership activity with pathway recruitment strategies, student load targets, and priority market objectives.
· Design and deliver annual regional plans that drive sustainable growth across priority programs, highlighting initiatives with partners, agents and internal stakeholders including faculties, and Global Partnerships.
· Prepare and present Quarterly Business Review (QBR) reports, analysing performance against agreed objectives, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending actions for continuous improvement.
· Manage and monitor agent performance using agreed KPIs and regular reviews to support recruitment outcomes, service quality and compliance requirements.
Customer service and cross-functional collaboration
· Collaborate with academic and administrative teams to co-develop, deliver, and enhance customised programs and study tours, ensuring quality assurance, partner satisfaction, and effective stakeholder engagement.
· Provide accurate, timely, and high-quality service across all client touchpoints, including email, phone, webinars, proposals and in-person interactions.
· Build and maintain productive working relationships with UQ Future Students International, Global Partnerships, faculties, schools, central divisions, and external partners to support coordinated outcomes.
· Work closely with UQ College functional areas to ensure consistent service standards, clear communication, and positive partner and student experiences.
Market intelligence and operational improvement
· Monitor trends and developments in international student recruitment and education markets, analysing impacts and preparing market intelligence insights for the Senior Manager, Business Development, and key stakeholders.
· Support the Senior Manager, Business Development in reviewing operational practices and performance metrics and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.

· Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Senior Manager, Business Development.

· Comply with the UQC Staff Code of Conduct and The University of Queensland’s Code of Conduct.
· Work in alignment with Queensland occupational health and safety legislation and related responsibilities.
· Ensure compliance with the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000, the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018, and associated policies, procedures and processes.
· Treat all students, including young learners, with respect and address concerns promptly; uphold UQC’s child and youth safety policies.
· Adopt sustainable work practices in accordance with sustainability responsibilities.
· A valid Queensland Government Blue Card (Working with Children Check) is a mandatory requirement of this role.

About You
Essential
* Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field and a minimum of three years’ experience in client, partnership or relationship management within study abroad, international education, or a related education setting.
* Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including negotiating shared outcomes and managing competing priorities across organisational and cultural contexts.
* Experience in managing international student recruitment pipelines, including agent engagement, performance monitoring, and conversion strategies, with proven contribution to enrolment targets and market growth.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with academic and administrative teams, and external partners to co-develop, deliver, and improve customised programs and study tours, while providing accurate, timely, and high-quality service across all client and partner interactions.
* Experience developing and delivering market or regional plans, setting objectives, prioritising initiatives, and preparing data-informed Quarterly Business Review (QBR) presentations, supported by strong strategic, marketing, and commercial capability in designing or enhancing offerings within agreed budgets and priorities.
* Strong organisational, administrative, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines in a dynamic environment, maintain high attention to detail, and build rapport and influence across teams, faculties, and external partners to support shared strategic objectives.
* Japanese language proficiency sufficient to conduct professional conversations and manage partner relationships.

* Ability to speak other Asian languages
