You’ll take the lead on triaging incidents, threat hunting, and evolving our response capabilities to stay ahead of threat actors.You’ll also contribute to strategic and operational priorities, including:Proactively identify, assess, and respond to cyber threats and incidents, ensuring swift containment, recovery, and root cause analysisManage the identification, tracking, and remediation of vulnerabilities across systems and applications, collaborating with technical teams to mitigate riskConfigure, manage, and optimise a broad suite of cyber security tools (including SIEM, EDR, IAM, DLP, etc.) to ensure effective coverage and detection capabilitiesInvestigating potential compromises and delivering actionable insightsDriving continuous improvement across security operationsContributing to the development of cyber security policy and proceduresThis is a hands-on role where your input will directly enhance our threat detection and mitigation capabilities.Support internal and external audits, ensure alignment with frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST, CPS234, and contribute to control uplift initiativesSupporting the rollout of new cyber security controls and initiativesCollaborating across teams to embed secure-by-design principles into operationsWhat are we looking for?Proven experience in using security tools to detect, investigate and contain threats -, including, SIEM, EDR/XDR, IAM/PAM, DLP, email protection, cloud security platforms and vulnerability management solutions.Deep understanding of incident response workflows, threat hunting techniques, and vulnerability management processes.Familiarity with leading security frameworks, such as NIST, ISO27001, CPS234, PCI-DSS, Essential 8, STRIDE, CIS, and MITRE ATT&CKHands-on experience using, interpreting and acting on data from firewalls, proxies, switches, and NAC solutions.A critical thinker with well-developed communication skills and a calm analytical approach to problem-solving, especially when time is critical.Initiative and independence, with the confidence to make decisions and own the outcome.A proactive, improvement-focused mindset – always looking for opportunities to increase resilience and mitigate risks.Able to adapt and pivot as priorities, the threat landscape and the business continues to evolve.A genuine drive to learn and grow — embracing feedback, exploring new ideas, and continuously building both personal capability and the resilience of the team and organisation.What can you expect from us?NGM Group employees can take advantage of the following work perks:Health and wellbeing; Fitness passport, corporate health insurance and annual flu vaccination.Lifestyle and giving back; Hotel discounts, 18 weeks paid parental leave, two community volunteers days and three recreational leave days per year.Professional advancement; Flexible work arrangements, recognition programs and employee referral program.About usAs one of Australia’s largest customer-owned banks, we’re a driving force in customer owned banking, operating under the trusted brands Greater Bank and Newcastle Permanent.
