Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Orthopaedic SRMO to begin their surgical career with the Orthopaedic Team at Concord Hospital
What You Will Be Doing
This position is open to qualified candidates who have experience and interest in Orthopaedic Surgery. You will be involved in the care and management of orthopaedic inpatients as well as attend orthopaedic outpatient clinics. This is a great opportunity for you to gain procedural competence in many aspects of orthopaedic surgery.
The Orthopaedic SRMO position is a dedicated 12 month role within the Orthopaedic unit. You will work in a well supervised and supportive environment under the guidance of the Consultants and AOA Accredited Trainees. Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to your skills, knowledge and experience. You will be expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to your orthopaedic experience.
If you have undertaken a rotation in Orthopaedic Surgery in the last 12 months, are able to supervise junior medical officers and display an interest in teaching and research in orthopaedics then we would really welcome your application.
This role is an ideal stepping stone to work towards acceptance into a recognised orthopaedic training program.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
The Orthopaedic Surgery Department at Concord Hospital is a busy Unit which currently comprises 7 consultants with subspecialty expertise in Foot and Ankle Surgery, Hip and Knee Surgery, Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Hand, Wrist and Microsurgery, Trauma and Sports Medicine Surgery. The Department works closely with Rheumatology, Metabolic Bone disorders, Geriatrics and Nuclear Medicine teams.

Concord Repatriation General Hospital is a principal referral facility and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. We offer a comprehensive range of specialty and sub-specialty services, many recognised nationally and internationally as Centre's of excellence. Major services include colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine, bone and joint services, cancer services, haematology, respiratory medicine and sleep studies, molecular biology and genetics, and those provided through the internationally acknowledged Statewide Burns Service, in which Concord plays a major part. Concord Hospital maintains string links to the veteran community.

* Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
* Previous clinical surgery experience and a demonstrated interest in Orthopaedic surgery.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated high level communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Skills in time management, prioritisation and problem solving.
* Commitment to own continuing professional development and self-education and Commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
* Demonstrated interest in teaching and research in Orthopaedic Surgery.
