Job Overview

We're seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to spearhead our high-impact teams. This role will involve building and leading top-notch teams that balance efficiency with technical excellence.

Karbon is a global leader in practice management software for growth-minded accounting firms, with a highly collaborative cloud platform that streamlines work and communication.

We have customers in 34 countries, with our people based throughout the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines.


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team and lead us toward continuous delivery, improving delivery quality and speed, reducing lead time and change failure rate, and keeping customer impact front and centre.


Key Responsibilities

* Build a world-class team: hire exceptionally, onboard well, coach growth, and set clear expectations and feedback loops.
* Raise the bar on technical excellence: clean boundaries, sound designs, high operational standards.
* Improve delivery quality & speed: reduce lead time and change failure rate; keep customer impact front and centre.
* Own reliability with the team: SLOs/SLIs, observability, system health, and blameless incident reviews.
* Create autonomy with accountability: align goals and decision rights; foster strong cross-team collaboration.


Requirements

* Previously a Senior+ IC before moving into management.
* 2+ years experience in Engineering Management.
* Proven record leading teams to improve quality and speed through technical + process change.
* Depth in distributed systems and data integrity at scale.
* Skill planning and delivering sprints with Product and Tech Leads, balancing new work, enhancements, bugs, and maintenance.
* Degree in CS or equivalent experience.
