About the Role
As an Assistant Store Manager at Bunnings, you will be responsible for the ongoing daily operations, sales and high‑volume stock management within your store. The small‑format Bunnings Store operates differently to our large warehouses, offering a wide range of products and services in smaller environments. You will work closely with fellow Assistant Store Managers, lead the In the Home, Lifestyles & Builders departments and report directly to your Store Manager. Your team of 10+ will be efficient, organised and the go‑to for customers.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of 10+ to maintain an engaged and safe work environment, and perform duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store across weekdays and weekends.
* Build team capability on Best Experience and Safety Culture & Compliance, including team engagement, performance management and recognition.
* Rostering and strategic planning for your team to deliver on our service promise.
* Drive department sales through strong merchandising & monitoring of key metrics.
* Act on customer feedback to improve the end‑to‑end customer experience.
* Own department stock accuracy, including adjustments, replenishment discipline and loss‑prevention processes.
* Carry out a minimum of one weekend in three roster days, and some public holiday work is required.
Qualifications
* Highly driven individual with strong leadership and influencing skills.
* Previous experience in leading teams focused on Safety and Wellbeing and specialist products preferred.
* Ability to develop teams and provide a healthy working environment.
* Ability to wear many hats, influence multiple stakeholders, and understand KPIs and exceed customer expectations.
* Lead by example in safe work practices and ensure team members follow correct procedures.
* Have a genuine passion for customer experience.
* Be able to approach, connect and confidently interact with customers and teams.
* Act with integrity, be safe and do your best.
* Ability to prioritise tasks & meet deadlines in a fast environment.
