The Catholic Archdiocese of Perth has 106 Parishes and 15 Agencies within its boundaries. Each parish is led by a priest appointed by the Archbishop of Perth. Agencies are managed by a Director/Coordinator and deliver a wide variety of ministries, including faith enrichment and formation, liturgy, disability support, Aboriginal outreach, marriage and family education services, homelessness support, justice and ecology education programs, and migrant and refugee services.
What you can expect to do
The Recruitment Officer, People and Culture, supports the Chancery in fostering and embedding people-centred, proactive employment practices that reflect the organisation\'s mission and values. Reporting to the Chief, People and Culture. The role contributes to the effective delivery of core People and Culture functions, with a particular focus on end-to-end recruitment and onboarding. The position also provides guidance and support in the application of People and Culture policies, procedures, and employee relations matters, ensuring practice is both compliant and pastoral in its approach.
Key responsibilities
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE OPERATIONS — Coordinate and support key stages of the employee lifecycle with a primary focus on recruitment, induction and onboarding, ensuring processes are people‐centred, compliant and aligned with organisational values and best practice.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE OPERATIONS — Deliver end‐to‐end recruitment support, including partnering with supervisors to develop position descriptions, coordinating advertising, undertaking applicant pre‐screening, preparing interview questions for line manager review, supporting interview panels, conducting reference checks, and drafting employment documentation.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE OPERATIONS — Maintain a sound working knowledge of People and Culture policies and procedures and support their consistent application across recruitment and onboarding activities.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE SUPPORT — Provide timely and confidential advice to staff, supervisors and clergy on recruitment processes, employment conditions and obligations, with sensitivity to the pastoral context and complexities of the Church.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE SUPPORT — Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of recruitment‐related People and Culture resources and services for parishes.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE SUPPORT — Maintain tidy, accurate recruitment records, including the timely set‐up and organisation of recruitment and employee files, supporting good governance and care for people.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE SUPPORT — Provide operational support to the People and Culture team, including back‐up assistance during periods of leave or peak recruitment activity.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE PARISH SUPPORT — Work collaboratively with Clergy to prepare clear, sound and mission‐aligned employment documentation.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE PARISH SUPPORT — Support the clergy and parishes through recruitment and onboarding activities, providing guidance on best practices and compliance requirements.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE PARISH SUPPORT — Provide first‐line advice to the clergy and parishes on recruitment‐related employee and industrial relations matters, escalating matters as required.
* PEOPLE AND CULTURE PARISH SUPPORT — Identify and escalate recruitment or employment matters that may present an industrial relations risk to the Chief, People and Culture.

Skills & Experience
* A minimum of one year experience in a similar role
* End-to-end recruitment experience is required for this position.
* Understanding of the employee lifecycle and associated processes
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
* High attention to detail, organisation skills and ability to prioritise and maintain confidentiality.
* Advanced level of computer literacy using the Microsoft Office Suite
* Hold a current National Police Clearance
* National Police Clearance must be obtained within the last 6 months.
* Valid Western Australian \"C\" Driver\'s licence
* Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resource Management or qualification in a related field
* A personal commitment to witnessing and promoting the distinctive ethos and values of the Catholic Church
* An understanding of the structures of Catholic Church and its social teaching
* Experience working/volunteering in a Catholic organisation
* A willingness and capacity to support the Catholic ethos
* Strong work ethic
* Can Do attitude and service mindset
* Maintains a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality
