Job Title: Cultural Advisor/Support Worker

">

About the Role: This position will enable relevant cases of First Nations victims' survivors and persons using violence to be reviewed through a cultural perspective and lens.

">

Cultural Guidance: Provide tailored culturally appropriate service responses and advice around specific needs of the First Nations individuals, taking into consideration local protocols, languages, and family/kinship groups.

">

HRT Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the lead agency delivering the Redlands Region's HRT Coordination and Outreach.

">

Target Group: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victim survivors and persons using violence within the following catchment areas: Cornubia - Carbrook, Daisy Hill, Eagleby, Loganholme - Tanah Merah, Rochedale South - Priestdale, Shailer Park, Springwood.

Essential Criteria:

">
* Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
">
* Open C Class Driver's License
">
* Current (or ability to obtain) Police Check issued by the Federal Police
">
* Working with Children Blue Card
">
* Current (or ability to obtain) First Aid and CPR Certificate
">
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
">
* Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Domestic and Family Violence dynamics and impacts.
">
* Qualification/s in a relevant Human Services Field OR significant experience (3+ years) in the Domestic and Family Violence sector and a capacity to demonstrate a sophisticated knowledge of Domestic and Family Violence.
">
* Proven experience working with women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence.
">
* Demonstrated experience or the aptitude to work with perpetrators of Domestic and Family Violence.
">
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with other services to ensure positive outcomes.
">
* Proven ability to record accurate documentation, case noting and record keeping.
">
* Well-developed verbal and written communication including the ability to share information with colleagues, stakeholders and the community appropriately.
">
* Have a strong understanding of risk assessment and safety planning in relation to family and domestic violence.
">
* Proven experience in developing comprehensive, appropriate support plans for each client, detailing achievable goals that illustrate a pathway towards positive outcomes.
">
* Working knowledge or ability to obtain knowledge of relevant legislation (including the Domestic and Family Violence Act, the Privacy Act, the Child Protection Act, etc.)
">
* Have intermediate to advanced computer skills (Word, Excel and Outlook) and online data platforms.
">
* Organised and able to meet competing deadlines and priorities.
">
* Commitment to confidentiality.
">
* Culturally safe communication skills.
">
* Empathetic and patient nature.
">
* Ability to display initiative and motivation.
">

Key Responsibilities:

">
* Attend all weekly meetings.
">
* Review relevant cases prior to HRT meetings.
">
* Completing Requests for Information (RFIs), recording meeting notes, and finalising case records in Infoxchange (the data management system) and undertaking intakes and referrals for High-Risk Cases at an agency level.
">
* Providing cultural guidance and acting as the identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victim-survivor advocate in HRT meetings.
">
* Building networks and pathways to culturally appropriate DFV supports.
">
* Providing broader advice on appropriate Integrated Service Responses (ISRs) to meet the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people referred to the HRT (the victim-survivor, their children, and the person using violence) including consideration of local protocols, community considerations, first/preferred languages, family/kinship groups.

* Building the cultural capacity of the HRT, including through formal and informal training, opportunities, and activities to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, where appropriate.
