The Team:

Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service (NTPS) provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania. We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania. NTPS aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team at NTPS comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.

The Role:

This role will support the Staff Specialist Microbiologist by providing clinical and diagnostic advice to Pathology and the ID physician team within the Infectious Diseases Department at LGH. The position will also provide leave coverage for the Staff Specialist Microbiologist during periods of absence.

You will need:

* Experience in management of the clinical microbiology service including bench-level advice
* Experience in communication of critical microbiology results to the treating teams
* To be prepared for regular interaction with the hospital's infectious diseases service and the infection control unit
* Teaching and research skills
* Good understanding of laboratory safety

Details of appointment:

* Fixed term part time, day worker (with on-call) position, working up to 22.8 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until20 April 2027. *notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation+ access to salary packaging

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

* Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available

* Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
* Provision ofa motor vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annum, pro rata
* Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974per annum, pro rata
* Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
* Professional development and accelerated pathways.
* A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
* Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.
* other allowances as applicable.

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as

Holds specialist registration

Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway

Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed ashaving sufficient experience in the speciality.

Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
