Permanent Opportunity Sydney Location Play a pivotal role in delivering best-in-class press office excellence and contributing to the Woolworths Group narrative.
The Opportunity The Communications Specialist is part of the Group Communications team and plays a key role in the day-to-day running of Group Media Relations, working to protect and build the Woolworths Group reputation.
The Media Relations Specialist acts as the first point of contact for inbound media queries to Woolworths Group Media Relations and will investigate and develop media statements and responses to media enquiries.
They collaborate with other Group Communications teams on issues management and proactive media opportunities.
They help deliver best-in-class Press Office management through organised administration and media reporting in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll do Develop media materials, including drafting media statements, briefs and other communications materials with considered narratives, incorporating feedback from subject matter experts and senior communications leadership.
Coordinate the daily operations of the Woolworths Group Media Relations, including responding to incoming queries, speaking to media, triaging and prioritising requests and participating in an after-hours on-call roster.
Engage with media, including acting as a contact for journalists to inform reporting, manage inbound inquiries, and proactively pitching stories as required.
Monitor the media landscape to proactively identify reputation risks, identify issues and collaborate on strategic messaging and narratives to protect Woolworths Group's brand and reputation.
Deliver daily media summaries and comprehensive coverage reports, including for financial results and other corporate announcements, for key internal stakeholders.
Oversee media monitoring contracts and subscriptions, manage the team's administrative schedules, and assist with financial processes, such as purchase orders, as required.
What you'll bring Fast-Paced Delivery: Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
Media Relations: At least 3-5 years experience in engaging news media and maintaining high-level journalist relationships, ideally in an ASX listed company.
Issues Inbound Media Management: Experienced at managing and responding to diverse levels of media inquiries with speed and accuracy.
Data-Driven Reporting: Proficient in using media monitoring and digital analytics to measure impact and provide insights on media coverage Media knowledge: Understanding of the Australian and New Zealand media market across traditional, digital, and social channels.
