With a strong reputation in the maritime sector, we are looking for a dynamic, hands-on finance professional to join our team and ensure the smooth financial operations of our business.
About the Role
As Finance Manager, you will play a key role in managing the company's day-to-day financial activities and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting and reporting standards. You will work closely with management, operations and external stakeholders to provide accurate financial insights and support decision-making in a dynamic shipping and logistics environment.
The successful applicant must reside in Australia. Reporting directly to CEO, the responsibilities of the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities
· Take full ownership of the finance function, from transaction processing through to reporting and analysis
· Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis
· Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense management
· Oversee banking, cash management, and payment runs, ensuring sufficient liquidity and appropriate controls
· Ensure compliance with Australian tax and statutory requirements, including BAS, GST, PAYG, payroll tax and FBT
· Preparation and lodgement of BAS, PAYG and superannuation
· Liaise with service provider on weekly/monthly payroll and superannuation processing and recording it in the general ledger
· Monthly general ledger reconciliations
· Responsible for month-end and year-end reporting, including liaising with external and internal auditors
· Management of cash flow and monitoring of operational expenditure
· Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts
· Ensure compliance with company policies
· Taking ownership of all existing systems and processes across the business. and implement process improvements where needed
· Lead and develop the finance team of two, building capability and working with operations to ensure strong collaboration
Experience and skills
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
· Solid understanding of GST, BAS, and Australian tax obligations
· High attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
· Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
