Electrical Commissioning Supervisor – FIFO (Iron Ore)
Location: FIFO from Perth to Pilbara Region
Initial Contract: 23/02/2026 to 21/02/2027

Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Supervisor to lead the safe and efficient commissioning and energisation of electrical systems on a major iron ore mining project in the Pilbara.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring close collaboration with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure all electrical systems are tested, verified, and successfully handed over in line with project specifications, Australian standards, and site safety requirements. The role suits a technically strong leader with extensive commissioning experience in remote FIFO environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination
* Plan and manage commissioning schedules in alignment with construction milestones.
* Coordinate with engineering, construction, and HSE teams to ensure commissioning readiness and safe execution.
* Review electrical drawings, specifications, and commissioning procedures for accuracy and completeness.
Supervision & Leadership
* Lead and mentor commissioning technicians, electricians, and subcontractors.
* Allocate work, monitor progress, and ensure quality standards are maintained.
* Foster a strong safety culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
* Provide technical leadership and resolve commissioning issues as they arise.
Testing & Commissioning
* Oversee installation verification, pre-commissioning checks, and functional testing of HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and control panels.
* Witness and validate test results to ensure compliance with design and regulatory requirements.
* Troubleshoot faults and ensure systems are safe, compliant, and operational.
Safety & Compliance
* Ensure all commissioning activities comply with HSE policies, electrical safety standards, and permit-to-work systems.
* Conduct toolbox talks and actively enforce safe work practices.
* Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incidents, and corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
* Prepare commissioning reports, test certificates, and system handover documentation.
* Maintain up-to-date records of commissioning progress and system status.
* Escalate risks, delays, and technical issues to project management.
Quality Assurance
* Verify installations meet design intent and Australian standards (including AS/NZS 3000).
* Identify and rectify defects prior to handover.
* Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Competencies
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems, protection schemes, and commissioning practices in mining or heavy industry.
* Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.
* Proven leadership and team coordination experience in FIFO environments.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Strong problem-solving ability and capacity to work under pressure.
* High commitment to safety, compliance, and quality outcomes.
* Experience with mining infrastructure including HV distribution, substations, and conveyors.
Qualifications & Experience
* Electrical Trade Certificate or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Current WA Electrical Licence.
* HV Switching Ticket (desirable).
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical commissioning, preferably within iron ore or heavy industrial projects.
* Previous FIFO and remote site experience essential.
