We are seeking an experienced
Technical Writer
to support the development and ongoing maintenance of operational and safety documentation for the
WINS Project – Port Hedland
. This full-time, fixed-term position is based at
Port Hedland.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to apply your technical writing expertise within a highly operational, site-based environment while contributing to a major digital transformation initiative. You will work both autonomously and collaboratively, spending time
in the field observing and supporting mechanical execution
to ensure documentation accurately reflects safe, practical, and efficient work practices.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all safety, environmental, and production incidents within areas of responsibility are reported, investigated in a timely manner, and corrective actions are implemented to prevent re-occurrence.
Develop, review, and maintain safe work instructions, procedures, forms, policies, JHAs, and HAZOPs in collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, HSE, and other stakeholders.
Support
Operational Readiness
for the WINS Project – Port Hedland by preparing documentation to enable the safe operation and maintenance of the plant.
Spend time
in the field observing, validating, and supporting mechanical execution
, ensuring documentation aligns with actual work practices and site conditions.
Promote and actively contribute to a
zero-injury culture
across the site.
Create clear, engaging, step-by-step work instructions using mobile devices, including photos and video content captured in the field.
Effectively communicate and elevate risks, hazards, and issues to enable timely mitigation and resolution.
Engage with SMEs, OEMs, and operational stakeholders to gather technical information and data to support the document development process.
Build positive, influential working relationships with trades, operators, planners, and area supervisors.
Continuously monitor, review, and improve technical documentation, identifying gaps and triggering formal review and update processes as required.
About You
Demonstrated experience in technical writing within an operational, maintenance, or safety-focused environment.
Strong capability with Microsoft Office applications, including
Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint
.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Maintenance, and HSE personnel in a site-based environment.
Experience creating photo and video-based instructional or training content.
Understanding of document control systems and governance processes.
Experience with risk assessment, hazard identification, and control methodologies.
Travel Requirement
The opportunity is a Fly in Fly Out role departing from Perth, you will be responsible to arrange your own transport.
