Job Description
We are seeking an Engineering Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer to support and lead components of ground investigations and geotechnical deliverables across civil, Defence, and infrastructure projects in Western Australia. This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who is technically capable, field‐experienced, and ready to take ownership of defined packages and work closely with senior staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver ground investigations end‐to‐end, including scoping, methodology selection, scheduling, and coordination with drillers and specialist subcontractors.
* Undertake and/or supervise fieldwork (e.g., logging, sampling, in‐situ testing oversight, QA of investigations) and ensure safe, compliant site execution.
* Complete engineering geology/geotechnical interpretation and reporting, including:
o Factual GI reports (logs, test schedules, QA summaries)
o Ground model development and parameter selection
o Geotechnical assessment inputs for design and construction (as required)
* Coordinate laboratory testing programs and validate results for completeness and suitability.
* Apply strong quality and process discipline: checking, traceable calculations/assumptions, clear deliverable structure, and consistent record keeping.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary coordination with civil/structures/services teams (constructability, earthworks, pavements, drainage interfaces).
* Support client and stakeholder engagement, including briefings on findings, risks, and recommendations.
Qualifications
* 3–5 years post‐graduate experience as an Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer.
* Minimum 2 years of ground investigation fieldwork experience (planning, supervision, logging/sampling, QA and safety).
* Strong preference for Western Australian experience, including familiarity with WA geotechnical investigation practices (local ground conditions, common investigation methods, and typical client/authority expectations).
* Sound technical writing skills and ability to produce clear, defensible deliverables.
* Proactive, organised, and detail‐oriented with a genuine focus on quality.
* Exposure to Defence or high‐assurance environments is advantageous (but not essential).
Additional Information
We welcome and invite applications from individuals of all backgrounds. This role offers the opportunity to lead across a broad range of geotechnical projects, grow technical, project, and consulting abilities, and work in a collaborative team that values practical thinking, technical curiosity, and professional development.
