Expression of Interest - Opencut Shotfirers & Bench Assistants
About the role
Blastcon Australia is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Opencut Shotfirers and Bench Assistants to join our dynamic team in Townsville, Queensland. These full-time roles contribute to our growing operations, where your expertise in drill and blast is essential. Based in North Queensland, these roles are either DIDO or FIFO, with varying roster patterns.
What you'll be doing
1. Supervise and coordinate the drill and blast process, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
2. Prepare and execute blasting plans in collaboration with the mining team.
3. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
4. Maintain accurate records and provide detailed reports on drilling and blasting activities.
5. Assist in training and developing junior team members.
6. Collaborate with the mining crew to optimise productivity and operational excellence.
What we're looking for
* Proven experience as an Opencut Shotfirer or Bench Assistant in the mining industry.
* Minimum of 5 years recent experience as a Shotfirer in Quarry, Construction, or Hard Rock mining.
* Surveying, design experience, and/or a drone pilot licence are highly preferred.
* Minimum of 12 months recent experience in On Bench roles for Bench Assistants.
* Strong understanding of drill and blast operations, including planning, execution, and safety protocols.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Commitment to workplace safety and risk management.
* Relevant qualifications, including a current unrestricted QLD Shotfirers License, QSEC (Queensland Security Explosive Clearance), and a current manual Drivers Licence.
* Ability to pass a full medical including a D&A screen.
* Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic environment.
