Overview
Teach with Purpose at St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead. This is a Temporary Part-Time (0.4FTE) Secondary PDHPE Teacher role for the 2026 school year, located in Gateshead. The college is a co-educational Year 7–12 school rooted in the Josephite tradition, with a focus on faith, learning, service, and a safe, inclusive environment. The school participates in the Visible Learning Framework and aims to promote student wellbeing, physical development, and healthy lifestyle choices within a faith-filled community.
Responsibilities
- Deliver PDHPE curriculum and promote student wellbeing, physical development, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Differentiates learning for diverse students; develops effective assessment practices and quality teaching programs.
- Promotes the school as a place of learning and excellence in line with contemporary evidence-based learning and wellbeing principles (including digital learning).
- Work within the Australian Skilled Standards for Teachers and contribute to ongoing development of pedagogical practices that impact student learning outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Four-year trained teacher
- Active NSW/ACТ accredited teaching registration (e.g., NSW NESA Accreditation)
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Completion of anaphylaxis and CPR training
- Commitment to Catholic Education and active support of the Catholic ethos; for Primary or Religion roles, being Catholic is required
Conditions of Employment
Salary is in accordance with the New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
