Level A) $81,293 - $109,307 or (Level B) $114,917 - $135,932 per annum, plus employer contributions of 17% superannuation.
Full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months, with the possibility of extension for an additional 2 years depending on funding.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Quantum and Nano Technology Group (QuaNTeG) in the School of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology (SET).
This role involves developing advanced theoretical tools and models for superconducting quantum materials research, contributing to leading defense-related technologies.
Under the supervision of the QuaNTeG Senior Lecturer, the Fellow will work at the forefront of quantum materials research, collaborating on projects within a state-of-the-art quantum materials design and fabrication facility. The position offers a unique opportunity to combine theoretical modeling with experimental implementation and testing, working with academic and industry partners such as the Silanna Group, the BECA Group, and REQUIEM Systems. The role supports interdisciplinary collaboration and career development in a cutting-edge scientific environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in theoretical quantum materials or condensed matter physics and a willingness to engage in experimental work. Responsibilities include designing, fabricating, and measuring quantum sensors in the Jesper Munch Quantum Laboratories, part of one of the country's most advanced quantum facilities. This position is suited for a highly motivated early-career researcher aiming to build an impactful career in quantum technology at a world-leading research institution.
To be successful at Level A, you will need:
A PhD in Quantum Physics with good knowledge of quantum device physics.
Knowledge of advanced physical models used in many-body physics, superconducting quantum field theories, and RF quantum optics.
Interest in exploring novel quantum sensors, such as superconducting quantum interferometers and cavity magnonics interferometers.
Ability to develop and maintain experimental tools using Python, MATLAB, COMSOL, and other software packages.
Ability to hold regular meetings with the group leader to update on progress.
To be successful at Level B, you will need:
A PhD in Quantum Physics with good knowledge of quantum device physics.
Demonstrated experience with advanced physical models used in many-body physics, superconducting quantum field theories, and RF quantum optics.
Experience in exploring novel quantum sensors such as superconducting quantum interferometers and cavity magnonics interferometers.
Proven ability to develop and maintain experimental tools using Python, MATLAB, COMSOL, and other software packages.
Proven ability to hold regular meetings with the group leader to update on progress.
Qualifications:
PhD in Quantum Physics with good knowledge of quantum device physics.
