Clinical Nurse/Midwife Consultant (Grade 1) Substance Use in Pregnancy & Parenting Service - Drug & Alcohol Services
Location: Randwick, Sydney (South Eastern Sydney Local Health District – SESLHD).
What You'll Be Doing
SESLHD Drug and Alcohol Service offers a range of treatment and support services for people with problems from their alcohol, prescription or illicit drug use, and/or their families and carers. Outpatient D&A services are located in clinics at the Langton Centre in Surry Hills, St George Hospital in Kogarah, and Caringbah Community Health Centre at Sutherland Hospital. Inpatient D&A services are provided at Sydney Hospital, Prince of Wales, St. George and Sutherland Hospitals.
Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting services (SUPPs) is a specialist service that helps women with addiction issues and their families before, during and after pregnancy. The SUPPs D&A Consultation and Liaison Nurse/Midwife provides high level consultancy and comprehensive expert drug and alcohol advice to a range of settings within the health service including inpatient and community services, antenatal services, post-natal extended care and case management services and drug and alcohol services.

Selection Criteria
* Current unrestricted Registered Nurse/Midwife registration with APHRA, Division 1 and current NSW drivers license class C.
* Minimum 5 years full time equivalent post graduate qualification experience and a post graduate qualification in the field of Drug and Alcohol clinical practice (or working towards such qualifications), or other qualifications or experience relevant to the Drug and Alcohol specialty.
* Proven clinical leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice in the D&A field.
* Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and knowledge of the practice development framework to D&A clinical practice.
* Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence based research relevant to Drug and Alcohol clinical practice.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
* Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the Drug and Alcohol clinical area, and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
* Demonstrated high level clinical skills in D&A assessment, withdrawal, opioid and other pharmacotherapies, psychosocial interventions, treatment planning for patients with complex presentations and ability to apply clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
