Therapeutic Youth Worker: Brisbane, QLD, Australia - Casual
The Role
* As a valued member of our care team, you'll play a crucial role in assisting children and young people to fulfil their potential and achieve what is important to them through day-to-day provision of care, nurturing and safety in our Out of Home Care Programme.
* Meeting the child or young person's daily care needs such as personal hygiene, health and well-being, medical, transportation, recreational and educational support needs.
* Contribute to and maintain a quality care setting for all children and young people that is safe, clean and personalized to those that live there.
* Document accurately events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care on the child or young person journey with us.
* Ensure children and young people NDIS plans are accessible for them while in our care.
* Utilize trauma informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision for children and young people.
* Provide positive behavior support, therapeutic interventions and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisis.
* Encourage and facilitate opportunities for social engagement, recreation, and community involvement.
* Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized support plans.
* Advocate for the rights and needs of the children and young people; support them in developing essential life skills, including education, vocational training, and independent living skills.
* Promote and support positive relationships and connection for children and young people with family, culture and community.
* Help children and young people reach developmental and life milestones toward a healthy, happy and thriving life.
About You
We are looking for care team members who have a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support. Experienced in offering support to individuals with disabilities and complex support needs, helping them lead fulfilling lives and promoting their independence.
You'll understand the importance of trauma informed care, consistency and stability in the lives of children and young people. Adapting responses and utilizing a broad range of support strategies. Be committed to meticulous documentation and reporting with a deep commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.
You should have availability to suit a rotating roster that includes mornings, afternoons, weekends and overnights.
Essential qualifications include a current paid Working with Children check, national police check, valid drivers license, and a suitable minimum qualification, lived experience or be eligible for a traineeship.
