Industrial IT/OT Engineer
We're partnering with a specialist energy operator that manages some of Australia's most critical renewable and power assets. They're looking for an Industrial IT/OT Engineer to bridge the gap between networking, security, and industrial control systems.
This role is perfect for someone who wants variety: one day you're deep in firewall configs and subnet design, the next you're supporting SCADA or embedded Linux devices that keep remote energy systems online. It's a rare chance to work across both IT and OT, in environments that directly support communities, industry, and critical infrastructure.
What you'll be doing:
- Take ownership of network design and management — configuring MikroTik firewalls, VPNs, and multi-subnet environments
- Work hands-on with embedded Linux devices used in SCADA, generator controllers, and IoT systems, as well as cloud-hosted servers on AWS
- Strengthen cybersecurity and connectivity across sites with multiple access points, wireless links, and critical infrastructure dependencies
- Partner with engineers and field staff to solve real-world challenges, translating complex IT/OT issues into clear, practical solutions
What we're looking for:
- Experience with IP networking, routing, and firewall management
- Familiarity with Linux systems and embedded devices
- Awareness of OT / control system environments (SCADA, power systems, or similar)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to explain technical issues clearly
- Interest in cybersecurity and network hardening
